The Hard Arkansas Stone is the most popular sharpening stone in use today. It is an all-purpose stone suitable for maintaining a keen edge on all knives and tools. First used by Native Americans and early settlers, the Hard Arkansas Stone is considered the “stone that built America”.

This is used to establish and maintain a keen edge on cutting tools. Since this is a natural stone colors may include Grey, White, Black/Grey, Grey/Pink, Black/ White, White or White/ Pink, or a combination of these colors. Genuine Arkansas stones are 100% quarried in the Ouachita Mountains of central Arkansas. They are highly sought after worldwide for their superior ability to sharpen knives and woodworking tools, as well as to put surgical quality edges on a wide variety of instrument

  • Use only with oil, never with water!
  • The Arkansas is an oilstone and has a grain size of about 6000 to 7000
  • It is suitable for hardened steel (no soft iron or non-ferrous metals)
  • The Arkansas stone is a natural product and may vary in color / marbling / grain size
